DIRECTOR OF
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Location: Remote, San Francisco Bay Area preferred

Salary: $175k base salary + bonus and generous equity stock options 

 

We are seeking a Director of Business Development to join Graphyte’s Commercial Team. The Director of Business Development will report to the Vice President, Commercial and focus on selling high quality carbon removal credits to the market. This position will play a critical role driving Graphyte’s growth; this includes supporting our go-to-market strategy, identifying new customers, and executing offtake agreements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Business development: Develop revenue theses in carbon markets (voluntary and compliance) to support Graphyte’s commercialization and implement strategies to test hypotheses. â€‹

  • Sales pipeline development: Develop and maintain a corporate buyer pipeline for carbon removal credit sales across a range of industries.  

  • Buyer engagement: Prepare pitch materials, meet with prospective buyers to discuss Graphyte’s carbon removal process, and respond to buyer diligence requests.  

  • Contract negotiation: Negotiate and close carbon credit offtake agreements.  

  • Channel sales strategy: Develop Graphyte’s channel partnerships through brokers, marketers, and carbon credit marketplaces. 

  • Partnerships: Work with Graphyte’s project development, finance, and engineering teams to form partnerships that support the business including with biomass suppliers, technology equipment manufacturers, and capital providers.    

  • Travel: 25% travel to support commercial priorities (project site visits, conferences, customer engagements, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS â€‹

  • Highly motivated and deeply passionate about addressing climate change   

  • 7-10 years of work experience in a commercially oriented role (e.g., strategy consultant, sales, commercial development); master’s degree or MBA is a plus  

  • Self-starter comfortable operating in ambiguity and in a fast-paced startup environment  

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience working in sales or on commercial transactions  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to present complex technical information clearly and concisely  

  • Significant experience developing PowerPoint presentations and Excel models 

  • Solid organizational, time management, and prioritization skills  

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
