FINANCIAL CONTROLLER

Location: Remote

Salary: Depending on experience and skillset 

 

We are seeking a Financial Controller to join Graphyte’s Finance & Accounting team. The Controller will report to Graphyte’s Fractional CFO and Director of Strategic Finance. This position will play a critical role driving Graphyte’s internal accounting and financial processes, operational improvement and financial management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The job requires oversight of Graphyte’s accounting operations, insurance, bill payment, payroll processing, and related activities. The Controller will work cross-functionally to ensure that Graphyte’s “internal house remains in order.”

  • Accounting: oversee and maintain the general ledger and accounting functions and systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements while maintaining accurate financial accounts.

  • Reporting: manage month-end closing process and ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled in a timely manner. Prepare, analyze and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to management

  • Cash Flow Management: monitor cash flow, transactions, accounts receivable and payable, and payroll submission. Conduct regular audits of expenditures, assets, and liabilities.

  • Vendor Management: manage the relationship with large vendors to improve working capital terms, catch irregularities, and reduce upfront capital risk.

  • Internal Control Maintenance: monitor employee and company financial policies and procedures. Improve expense approval and tracking against budget. Ensure compliance with US GAAP and other regulatory bodies.

  • Insurance, Taxes, and Compliance: working with external consultants to secure and comply with insurance policies, tax requirements, and related activities.

QUALIFICATIONS â€‹

  • Highly motivated; passion about climate change preferred

  • Experience managing equipment vendors and large payment schedules

  • Leasing accounting, term loan, and project finance accounting experience preferred

  • 5+ years of work experience in a similar role 

  • Able to establish and maintain robust operations with high reliability in delivery

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint; excellent financial modeling skills

  • Expert at Quickbooks, Bill.com, Brex; familiarity with ERP systems

  • High ethical standards and integrity

  • Able to work effectively with a wide range of team members in a fast-moving startup environment

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting or finance, Licensed CPA required
