INTERN, CLIMATE TECH
Location: Remote (US) with occasional travel to Graphyte's production facility in Arkansas
Salary: Commensurate with experience level, ranging from $20-$40 per hour
Graphyte is seeking a motivated intern interested in climate technologies to join our technical team as a data analyst for a project-focused internship. In this role, you will analyze data from sensor networks and environmental monitoring systems to help understand carbon sequestration dynamics and validate the permanence of carbon removal. You'll work with spectral data, gas composition measurements, and other sensor inputs to develop insights that optimize our processes and create reliable reporting metrics.
This hands-on experience with real-world climate tech applications will develop your skills as a future data analyst, applied scientist, or data engineer. The position offers flexibility with part time to full-time workload over a 3–6-month time frame.​

RESPONSIBILITIES

Data Analysis: Clean, organize, and analyze datasets to identify patterns and extract insights

Statistical Analysis / Modeling: Apply appropriate statistical methods to validate findings and support conclusions; apply modeling methods to derive predictions from data

Pipeline Development: Help build and refine data processing pipelines that connect measurement systems with analysis tools

Data Management: Implement validation protocols and quality checks for sensor and measurement data

Visualization & Reporting: Create clear, actionable visualizations and reports to communicate findings

Business Intelligence Support: Deliver analyzed data in formats suitable for business intelligence and regulatory reporting

Field Experience: Travel occasionally to our processing and sequestration sites in Arkansas for hands-on experience and project work

Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with engineers, scientists, and operations teams

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS ​

Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Data Science, Statistics, or Computer Science OR a degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Physics, or related field with a focus on data analysis

Strong programming skills in Python (or other object-oriented language)

Familiarity with basic statistical analysis techniques

Familiarity with SQL and database querying

Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Genuine interest in climate technology and carbon dioxide removal

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with data engineering or database management

Familiarity with data visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau, matplotlib, seaborn)

Knowledge of spectral data analysis, sensor data processing, or related fields

Experience with data analysis and data modeling libraries (pandas, scipy, sklearn, etc.)

Experience with Azure services is a plus

Understanding of basics environmental science concepts and biophysical principles

Previous experience or coursework in climate tech or carbon removal
