Graphyte Named to Fast Company’s World’s Most Innovative Companies of 2025

Carbon removal company joins previous winners including Bluesky, Airbnb, the WNBA, Tubi, Google’s DeepMind, Oura, Waymo and more

Memphis, TN (March 18, 2025) — In only its second year of business, Graphyte has been named to Fast Company’s prestigious list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies of 2025. The annual awards recognize companies across the world that are “transforming industries and shaping society.”  As the only immediately scalable durable carbon removal company in the world, Graphyte has been selected for advancing the sustainability industry with the development of its Carbon Casting technology.

Carbon Casting involves leveraging readily available and otherwise unused “waste” from farmers and foresters, like sawdust and corn husks, which are naturally rich with carbon due to photosynthesis.  Graphyte dries and condenses this biomass into carbon blocks protected by an environmentally safe, impermeable barrier, and then stores these blocks in underground sites with state-of-the-art monitoring preserving nearly all the carbon captured and consuming very little energy in the process.

“Today’s recognition underscores how sometimes the most innovative ideas are also the simplest,” said Barclay Rogers, CEO of Graphyte. “Because Carbon Casting can work with nearly any biomass, doesn’t require complicated technology or permitting, and doesn’t take much energy to execute, Graphyte has been able to capture tens of thousands of tonnes of carbon and is on track to become the largest carbon removal company in the world.

To determine honorees, Fast Company’s editors and writers review companies driving progress around the world and across industries, evaluating thousands of submissions through a competitive application process. The result is a globe-spanning guide to innovation today, from early-stage startups to some of the most valuable companies in the world.

“Our list of the Most Innovative Companies offers both a comprehensive look at innovation today and a playbook for the future,” said Fast Company editor-in-chief Brendan Vaughan. “This year, we recognize companies that are harnessing AI in deep and meaningful ways, brands that are turning customers into superfans by overdelivering for them, and challengers that are introducing bold ideas and vital competition to their industries. At a time when the world is rapidly shifting, these companies are charting the way forward.”

Graphyte is the first carbon removal company to offer a permanent solution at a price recognized in the industry as a critical benchmark for making large-scale carbon removal commercially viable.

“In order to make a meaningful contribution towards saving our planet in the very near term, carbon removal solutions have to be affordable, and Graphyte has achieved that milestone,” said Rogers.  “We’re also proud that Carbon Casting enables farmers and foresters to be part of the climate solution while creating well-paying jobs in rural areas.  It’s a win-win for the planet, and for the economy.”
