PROJECT COMMISSIONING ENGINEER 

Location: Southeastern U.S. with frequent travel to Graphyte locations (including central Arkansas)

Role is open to sponsorship

Salary: Depending on experience and skillset 

 

We are seeking a motivated On-Site Plant Engineer and/or Intern(s) to join our team. The commissioning engineer will lead our commissioning efforts as we look to scale our operations and support the Engineering Manager and Plant Manager. This person is expected to prepare the plant operations philosophy, develop integrated project schedule, work with external stakeholders to ensure equipment gets delivered, installed and commissioned as per schedule and budget and we are hitting our ramp projections. This person will participate in developing, leading, and executing capital projects, initially at the Graphyte Processing Facility in Pine Bluff, AR and later at additional sites. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a highly collaborative personality and strong engineering background. Experience in process and project engineering in grain handling, wood pelleting, and food processing industries is valued.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support pilot production line operations and identify improvement opportunities.

  • Address equipment reliability, production downtime, and quality issues.

  • Manage project scope execution, cost, schedule, and safety.

  • Coordinate contractors and vendors to ensure project goals are met daily.

  • Assist in future plant designs, equipment selection, and infrastructure projects.

  • Prepare Best Value Option Analysis (BVOA) and provide recommendations.

  • Review technical documentation and approve drawings.

  • Supervise field installation, lead commissioning, and troubleshoot during startup.

  • Communicate project status across the organization.

  • Assist in the selection, negotiation, and oversight of consultants and vendors.​

QUALIFICATIONS â€‹

  • 5+ years' experience as a commissioning engineer working with plant design or improvements, equipment selection, PFD and P&ID development, site infrastructure improvements and equipment commissioning

  • Experience with development of product ramp planning and unblocking blockers to hit production milestones

  • Knowledge of electrical field devices – limit switches, flow sensors, solenoid valves, proximity switches

  • Assist with machine install and start-ups (FAT, Transport plan, lift plan, JHAs, SAT - I/O checks, devices setup, safety system checks, and machine test, and Initial Qualification, Operational Qualification and Performance Qualification)

  • Contractor management experience, including scoping the work, managing a bidding process, negotiations, field installation supervision, and change order management

  • Ability to communicate and present to individuals at all levels of the organization

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to a fast-changing environment

  • Proficient in Excel, Power Point, MS Project, Word, AutoCAD, MS Projects

  • Travel will be approximately 30% but may be higher during specific project phases

  • Develop standards and best practices (with external stakeholders) to support process optimization
